From Nebelstein to Mariazell.
The Lower Austrian Mariazellerweg 06 (approx. 255 km) leads from the Waldviertler Freiwald forest via the Kamptal lakes, the Horner, Gföhler and Dunkelsteinerwald forests and the Türnitz Alps to Mariazellerland.
It begins at the scenic summit of the Nebelstein (1,017 m), passes through St. Martin (621 m), Rosenau, Zwettl (518 m), Ottenstein, Krumau (370 m), and Wegscheid to Rosenburg (265 m) with its magnificent castle complex. It continues via Tautendorf (434 m) and Schiltern, Senftenberg (254 m) to Stein a.d. Donau (199 m) and through the Dunkelsteinerwald (598 m) to the state capital, St. Pölten (271 m). Now via Wilhelmsburg to the Kaiserkogel (716 m) and over the Hohenstein (1,195 m) to Türnitz (466 m). From Türnitz, you can also hike via the Tirolerkogel (1,377 m) to Annaberg; from there, you can reach Josefsberg via either Schmelz or Joachimsberg. The main route leads via Ulreichsberg (871 m) to Walster; the alternative route goes via the Tirolerkogel (1,377 m) and Annaberg (976 m) to Mitterbach am Erlaufsee (789 m) and Mariazell (868 m).
